OK I tried to make this work & simply could not get it right!

So basically I'm a failure at this point... I mounted the RC51 calipers & the increase in stopping power was absolutely phenomenal, the problem was the brake drag was significantly increased in spite of the fact that every thing appeared to line up perfectly. I flushed & bled the entire system twice & shimmed the calipers every way possible trying to alleviate the drag as I could barely get 3/4 of a rotation of the wheel when spinning it by hand. None of it worked, so I put the stock calipers back on it. If I come up with any more ideas on what I forgot to try or what might work I will try it again in the future. I'll leave the previous info from this page intact in case anyone wants to review it out of curiosity.

"Guys, Let me start by saying that of all the bikes I have owned the RC51 has the best OEM brakes bar none.  Having said that I just spent 30 minutes measuring the distance from the inside of the caliper mounts to the rotor, the bolt holes on center & the rotor thickness between the RC51 & the 919 & they appear to be a perfect match.  So I am going to fit a set of RC51 calipers to the 919 next Monday & I am willing to bet that they will bolt up perfectly with no extra parts whatsoever. Along with the calipers you can then run HRC brake pads if you so choose, but then again I don't really see the need for 65mph stoppies on the 919 LOL

I'm not saying the 919 brakes are bad, but they are lackluster when compared to the current models available & it is a relatively cheap fix that will greatly enhance your braking power & the gold calipers look pretty good too.

Here is a pic of how I was measuring the distance, not the actual measurement as that required a much steadier hand & true 90 degree angles, but it gives ya an idea of what I was doing.

Not only are the RC51 calipers designed to be more linear & powerful with a better initial bite, but there is also about 20% more pad in contact with the rotor.

I will fit stainless steel lines sometime in the near future.

It's going pretty good so far
It took about 30 minutes for swapping the calipers & bleeding the system
the problem is now it's raining & I cannot go test them...

Countless attemps at reworking the brakes has failed to alleviate the increased brake drag, just doesn'tmake sense to me as everything bolts up perfect & there are no visible tolerance errors... I have mic'd the rotors clearance on all side of the calipers & even the depth & jsut cannot figure out why the brake drag is so increased.
