Renthal Road Bars I just got in!
one in black & one in silver

They have a little bit lower bar that is swept back a little bit further than stock, about 2" wider & 50% lighter.

I will get some comparison photos soon as well as photos & weights after the install

Stock bars 2.4 lbs
Renthal bars 1.2lbs

Stock bar weights .40lbs ea

Couple hints for removing the old bars & installation

Remove the bar weights, undo the left controls first & let them hang down, then remove the clutch bracket. Next remove the brake bracket & loosen & remove the screws from the throttle housing.

You cannot remove the throttle housing yet because there is not enough slack in the cable & wiring to let slide it off the bar, so unbolt the bar from the triple clamp taking care to make sure the bar doesn't swing down & scratch your tank. Once the bar is loose you simply pull it to the left & let the throttle housing slide off the end of it.

You can remove the stock grip by inserting an air hose under the lip of grip & using the air pressure to lift the grip off the bar. With a little practice at this maneuver you can get the grip off in one quick blast of air.

When you go to install the bars it's all pretty much the reverse of taking them apart except you will have to remove the nubs on the controls that are designed to fit into pre-drilled holes in the stock bars.

On the left side controls the nub is made of plastic as part of the control itself so I simply took an old screwdriver heated it up with torch & melted the nub away it took about 10 seconds, a quick slight of hand to make it smooth & it worked perfectly.

The right side took a little more work as it has a metal nub in it which at first I tried to wrestle out of the plastic with a pair of vise grip pliers (as you can see from the marks on it in the pic), but soon gave up the idea & pulled out the die grinder & made quick work of it.

(Actually if you really wanted to be proper you could drill holes in the Renthal bars, but I think that takes way to much time (& precision) & technically might even weaken the structural integrity of the bars themselves since they are alloy aluminum & not steel like the OEM bars)
