ECU Reflashing
Everybody now knows it is common practice in the industry to reflash the OEM ECU to remove various EPA mandated restrictions and other functions that hinder performance and alter the actual fuel and ignition maps etc. The Hornet SP responds exceptionally well to this flash offering gains of about 25 additional horsepower. You simply send them your ECU, they flash it with a new code and send it back to you. There are lots of companies doing Flash Tuning, but they are not all created equal. For this tune I used Nate at 2 Wheel Dyno Works. He is a master tuner and they actually own this very model of bike so they have unlimited development time to get the mapping perfect for not just the OEM exhaust, but just about every Slip-On & Full Exhaust on the market. I sent my ECU out to Nate for them to remap it to the stock exhaust while I wait for a Full System to be manufactured. This was a complete transformation of the horsepower output of the Hornet SP. Not only did they uncork about 20+ more horsepower to the real wheel, but the throttle response and modulation is so much better than I lack the covcabulary to accurately convey how awesome it now feel to twist that throttle grip.... Some owners have been a little reluctant to remove the tank shroud and lift the tank to get to the ECU, but it is really a simple process and honestly does not take much time even if you are being slow and methodical which I recommend as you really don't want to go breaking any tabs in the plastics etc or losing any of the push pins...
